Rene Rhi

Rene Rhi grew up in the sister cities of Matamoros, Tamaulipas and Brownsville, Texas. After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with degrees in Journalism and Spanish, he joined the Cross Border Institute for Regional Development (CBIRD) where he was involved in economic policy and sustainable business development along the US-Mexico border.

In 2007, he became the youngest ever director of CineFestival San Antonio, the oldest Latin film festival in the US. Through partnerships he forged within the Texas film community, Rene was awarded the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts Scholarship and enrolled in the MFA film program at the University of Southern California. While at USC, he founded the Latino Film Association and concentrated in Motion Picture Production, Finance, Sales & Distribution.

After graduating from USC, Rhi worked for the American Film Market and Celsius Entertainment; a London based content sales agency, where he was involved in the International distribution, acquisition and financing of independent films.

Hilda Ledezma

Hilda Maria Ledezma is a graduate of the University of Texas at Brownsville with a degree in Sociology, and an Associate of the Sisters of Divine Providence at Our Lady of the Lake University. In 2010, she opened the Carlotta K. Petrina Cultural Center with the vision to inspire minds and enhance creativity through the celebration of culture.


In 2011, she established Revival of Cultural Arts and in 2013, ROCA became a 501c3 nonprofit which mission is to create a bridge that will remove the gap between local families, and the experience of Art, Music, and dance, education. ROCA also seeks to create opportunities that will engage the community in social justice efforts. In 2019, she has embarked in a new journey and co founded The Brownsville Film Society, a non profit organization that aims to support the local motion picture community and promote the city of Brownsville, Texas as a film friendly destination.


Currently, Hilda together with the ROCA family and outstanding partners will soon lead the Brownsville Performing Arts Academy.

Michele Wolding

Michele Woldng is a SAG-AFTRA actress from Tampa, FL who graduated Cum Laude from the University of Tampa with a BA in Performing Arts.  She arrived in Brownsville by way of Los Angeles, CA where she had the privilege of studying with Joe Palese at The Actor Space while working in film and TV.  


Michele is BFS Acting for Film and Television Instructor and will be spearheading the Acting and Performance initiative

program at the Brownsville Performance center starting in January 2020.
